The translocation of cheetahs which were native to Namibia to Kuno National Park despite advice to the contrary by wildlife experts and scientists is getting more tragic by the day. In the past 10 months, 10 cheetahs have died, unable to acclimatize to the hot and humid tropical conditions in Madhya Pradesh. Last year, Modi 'welcoming' the animals had gloated that the wildlife diversity in India had received a big boost by the arrival of the cheetahs. Environment minister Bhupendra Yadav had credited Narendra Modi's 'visionary leadership' for reintroducing cheetahs which were declared extinct in this country in 1952. Now that the animals are dying at frequent intervals, no one is coming forward to take credit. This was just a vanity project orchestrated to boost the PM's image as an omniexpert, the poor cats are paying the price for this tragically stupid endeavour.
