Some politicians were recently seen accusing their political rivals for allegedly having close links with all the drug lords/mafias operating from the coastal belts of Goa and also with the rave-party organisers who were arrested in raids at Arpora and found in possession of different types of narcotics. Well, the whole world knows that such type of rave parties/supply/sale of drugs has been going on since the last so many years with the full backing of elected politicians (past and present) from all the coastal belts of Goa and sometimes with even the active support of cops from the Anti-Narcotic Cell. Now, under such circumstances, how can one expect to liberate our tiny state of illegal and notorious activities? Of course, our politicians might sometimes instruct the cops to raid a few places temporarily to distract Goans from their own failures. Forget about politicians, today one can practically see even local youngsters daringly selling drugs in villages for quick bucks. The drug trade is not just inter-connected with tourism but has slowly turned into a big money-making business industry not just for our politicians but also for the local youth. As long as politicians patronise drug trade directly or indirectly, it will always keep flourishing.
