The persistent challenges of gender bias continue to hinder ambitious women striving for success in the workplace and sports.
All say that there has been progress over eight decades since Independence. The change of attitude begins at home in the family. Parents should not see girls as a weaker sex. For many parents, the ultimate goal for a daughter”regardless of her talent or achievements”is to get married. Parents should give girls and boys receiving equal opportunities in education.
With education and the right exposure, patriarchal practices will fade away gradually when men move beyond treating women as commodities. There are many female personalities who have fought to preserve the Constitution and many highlighted their courage and determination in overcoming challenges to achieve success in various fields. The women's reservation would be a fitting culmination for a long-standing dream of women, paving the way for a cherished milestone.
