The beaches of South Goa are no more pristine but resemble the town dump. Tonnes of trash is strewn around beaches by restaurants and tourists, add to that the constant menace of lurking feral dogs which attack passersby and chase two wheeler riders and you have a place right out of hell. The few tourists who still venture out to the waters edge are harassed by lamanis and other illegal peddlers of massage etc.
The government has only been making noises about eradicating the multiple menaces since the last decade and a half but precious little has actually been done on the ground. Goa is definitely a case of ‘Paradise Lost’, a defiled entity and by the looks of it, the situation seems beyond redemption. So long Goa, nice knowing you all these years. Farewell.
