Govts must get smarter to build 'Smart Cities'

This is with regard to report 'Work on Smart City project damages Chimbel pipeline - The Goan Everyday March 16, 2022'. It's indeed disgusting to see the attitude of the authorities towards important issues which affect not just the general public but affects sustainability. The damaged pipeline in Chimbel in old Goa, is a case in point. According to the report, it's been two weeks since the pipeline was damaged while digging was in progress to build a so-called 'Smart City'. Instead of taking urgent measures to plug the leak, the authorities are busy passing the buck! The PWD authorities and the Smart City authorities ought to act, and act fast to stop not just the wastage of our natural resources like water which sustains life, but to stop injuries and deaths of the general public. One wonders how many lives or injuries will it take for the government to take corrective measures? That goes for all pipe bursts or other such incidents that occur in other cities in the country. Needless to say they ought to get smart or probably smarter, if they are to build smart cities!
