It's safer if ATMs are set up in bank premises

The Mapusa Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) reportedly held a meeting with bank officials under the jurisdiction and surrounding areas to discuss the security aspect of bank ATMs. With the rise of thefts in bank ATMs, the bank officials in Bardez were reportedly instructed to post a security guard at the ATM kiosks for security of ATMs and safety of public who visit the ATM as also to keep a tab on the CCTV footage on a daily basis so that reporting suspicious activities around the ATMs could help in taking timely action among other measures. It must be said that all the risks involved as far as ATMs are concerned can be mitigated by having the ATM machine within the bank premises. The public can operate the machine through a window of the bank which has a grill attached to it.  Such a step will provide security for the machine and safety for the public. Thefts of ATMs, which have been taking place at a disturbing frequency, will not be possible if the machine is installed within the bank premises.
