Donald Trump promised peace through strength, but the latest Iran escalation seems to be delivering strength without peace. The self-proclaimed master of the “art of the deal” appears to have discovered that missiles are far easier to launch than lasting diplomacy.
Every fresh exchange of strikes chips away at claims of decisive leadership, making the conflict look increasingly like his Waterloo. History has a habit of humbling leaders who mistake bravado for strategy. If this crisis continues to spiral, Trump’s greatest deal may well be negotiating his own place among foreign policy failures.
