Every year April 7 marked as ‘World Health Day’. Each year the WHO draws attention to a subject of major importance to global health and focuses its funding towards this end. The theme this year is: "Our Planet our Health’ which focuses on the link between the health of our planet and the health of humans, animals, plants - all living creatures. In Goa, the two being inextricably linked, to linear projects and tourism, those at the helm must pledge their vision and mission statements.
For TTAG, Goa Tourism, Power Minister: the vision must be to engage local village talents as catalysts for sustainable ventures. The mission to this is through the greater use of green technologies. Sadly both are unaware that, as per WHO, 9 out of 10 people breathe polluted air and 2 billion lack safe drinking water. Goans too are deprived of safe drinking water but refuse to ban filling of swimming pools. Can the media get the statements of the above people on this very crucial WHO theme? At least, the Panchayats must come out with their vision and mission statements whereby they can save people's health.
