A senior minister of the Goa government has been most insensitive to the travails of the common man as reflected by his recent statements. Speaking to media persons at a recent presser he insolently remarked that the government cannot be blamed for the petrol and diesel price hike, to rub salt in the wounds he went on to assert that even if petrol hits Rs 200 a litre there should be no cause for concern ; people should buy electric vehicles by availing of the government subsidy and ride it happily. These leeches in power enjoy the spoils of office and gorge on taxpayer's money. How would the common man even think of budgeting for an electric vehicle; a two wheeler costs @ a lac and a four wheeler would set you back by @ 20 lacs minimum. The citizens who had bought EVs the first time around are still awaiting the subsidy payout. The mantri's utter callousness reminds us of the French queen Marie Antoinette's "Let them eat cake" comment when informed that her subjects were starving and could not even afford bread during the French revolution. The powers that be should remember that hubris leads to swift doom, Queen Marie was convicted of crimes against the state and guillotined.
