The potholes death trap issue was highlighted in The Goan Everyday, where the PWD contractor's substandard work was done merely to appease the public, and after a few drops of rainfall, it was washed away again. Now, during the monsoon season, weeds have started growing in these potholes, and Goans should enjoy the Goan Teryachi bhaji. At night, even frogs are seen jumping around the potholes.
The road issue in our village remains unresolved due to poor quality and insufficient maintenance. The stretch from Leo Family Bar and Restaurant (Cavorim Covatem) to Hill View Cafe and Restaurant (Mena Cavorim) needs urgent hot mixing, as it has been severely damaged by heavy rainfall, creating widespread and deep potholes. The road, previously narrow, has seen increased traffic since the flyover bridge opened.
The State government-run Kadamba buses and vehicles from neighbouring villages now use this shortcut, leading to frequent accidents, health hazards, and vehicle damage. The road's poor condition is causing significant inconvenience, including punctured tyres and frequent vehicle servicing, adding to our financial burden.
Additionally, the winding road needs to be addressed to allow smooth traffic flow and ensure pedestrian safety. Potholes on Cotta Road also need attention. Soon, there will be underground electricity cabling work, which will worsen the roads in the coming months.
We urgently request a site inspection and prompt action from the concerned authorities to prevent further accidents and ensure road safety. The Panchayat office should be held accountable as the street lights are also non-functional, reflecting the careless attitude of government departments.
