It is disgusting to see reputable agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) being used by the Centre to muzzle opposition leaders. The ED is hounding the opposition, whether Congress or other parties, with sinister intent and has been unleashing terror on opposition leaders to cover up its failures such as unemployment, skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, oil and gas, and mounting deficits in revenue receipts, which may put the government machinery on the mat.
The concerned drive by the ED in different states has raised a furore, and aggrieved parties are accusing the BJP of practising politics of vendetta. Political parties justify wrongdoings when there are allegations or cases filed against their members. The leaders that the ED has targeted had a dry run when the UPA government was in power for 10 years and the BJP was in the opposition, claiming that the full form of CBI was Congress Bureau of Investigation, even after numerous scams surfaced. It is only natural justice that they are brought to book, taking into account the way our judicial system works.
The ruling dispensation is being accused of political vendetta whenever cases are filed or raids conducted on politicians from opposition parties. The fact remains that there is not a single corruption case against any minister in the union government or in the State governments ruled by the BJP. So why should anyone target it? While dubious transactions, if any, should be exposed whether they are of the ruling or opposition parties, it is the lethargy of investigating agencies that gives rise to needless controversies.
