CM Pramod Sawant is quietly transforming the fortunes of two long-neglected communities: traditional motorcycle taxi pilots and traditional fishermen. Recognising motorcycle pilots as tourist ambassadors while introducing the Mhajo Driver app and incentives for electric taxis balances modernisation with livelihood protection. Instead of displacing them, the government is helping them adapt and earn more. Traditional fishermen are also receiving long-overdue attention through official identity documents, technology support, financial assistance, and promotion of activities such as crab farming, strengthening Goa’s blue economy while preserving coastal heritage. These initiatives reflect Sawant’s commitment to inclusive development by addressing the needs of pilots, fishermen, and farmers. The government is demonstrating that progress and tradition can go hand in hand.
