It was a novelty then that has outlived its utility and shine. The idea of inculcating dignity of labour among Scouts and Guides was ideal.
The collection of hard-earned labour is accrued to the organisation though the percentage is reduced in favour of Scouts & Guides for school activities.
The continuation of this activity benefits the organisations. It is undesirable to turn these Scouts and Guides away and residents often find it convenient to just tip them without them doing any job.
Every scout/guide maintains a card where they note specific number of jobs in the schools, home and village throughout the year.
It would be in the fitness of things if the concerned schools demarcate areas for their students in order to avoid saturating the area.
