The inter-religious meeting at the Bom Jesus Basilica organized by the Church on the occasion of the ongoing Novena to St Francis Xavier, is a great initiative.
Such inter-religious meetings which are organised also by other churches in Mumbai certainly do help in fostering more harmony, understanding and cooperation among communities.
This brings to the point whether such inter-religious dialogues could be spread out throughout the year rather than limit them to special occasions.
It also seems like it is mostly the Catholic Church which is taking the initiative in organizing such meetings. If we are to see more harmony, understanding, peace I think other religious heads ought to organize inter-religious meetings at their institutions. Inter-religious meetings should be a two-way street.
And while we are at it, what is important is Christian unity which seems to be lacking. If Jesus is the sole Head of the Church, we must strive to achieve unity of all Christians denominations under one single Head. A far cry, of course!
