The state government's decision to scrap the House Building Advance scheme (HBA) has put govt employees in the dock who have availed loans. With interest rate, as a result of the scrapping of the scheme, rising from 2% to almost 7-8%, the employees have been receiving very little amount in terms of salary after all the deductions. Under such circumstances, it must be extremely difficult for them to make their two ends meet.
On the one hand, the government boasts of creating better facilities for the common man, while on the other, government servants are given rude shocks despite they having rendered several years of service.
In case the government doesn’t come to their rescue with some sort of positive solution, there is every possibility of some taking drastic steps due to their inability in dealing with the financial difficulties. It is the need of the hour that the government reconsiders its decision and restyore the popular scheme vis-a-v-s House Building Advance.
