In Sanguem taluka, a married woman endures relentless torment from a man who videos her, uses derogatory language, and defames her reputation, falsely labelling her as a prostitute to neighbours and daughters. Despite multiple complaints filed and notifications to the collector, the Goa police have failed to apprehend the culprit. While the BJP boasts about women’s safety, they fail to protect them from predators.
This situation reflects poorly on Goa, with harassment in neighborhoods and workplaces continuing unabated, often unreported due to fear. Even as International Women’s Day was celebrated yesterday, with PM Narendra Modi extending warm wishes, the question remains: are women truly safe under the BJP government? PM Modi stressed respecting women as vital for India’s progress, yet women continue to suffer. The Goa government must ensure equal rights for women and guarantee their safety. Women play a crucial role in society, and it’s imperative to create an environment where they are respected and protected.
