The Congress criticised the Centre on Thursday for the State Bank of India’s request to the Supreme Court for more time to disclose electoral bond details. They assert that PM Narendra Modi fears revealing his corporate donors. The Supreme Court had previously ordered the SBI to provide these details to the Election Commission by March 6. However, on Monday (March 4), the SBI, seemingly under PM Modi’s influence, petitioned the Supreme Court for an extension until June 30, citing trivial reasons. In an era where banks can swiftly provide transaction details, SBI’s reluctance is perplexing. It appears that SBI is aiding the BJP-led government by delaying disclosure of potentially illicit electoral bond transactions until after the Lok Sabha elections. This manoeuvre reflects poorly on SBI’s integrity.
