All eyes on watching ISL finals at Fatorda

Sunday’s Indian Super League (ISL) finals will be the first time in two years that spectators will be given access into the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Fatorda to watch the match. ISL matches were being played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is learnt that an expert committee will advise the government on whether to permit the organizers to hold the ISL finals with the stands at the Fatorda stadium occupied at 100 per cent capacity. It must be said that Goan fans have been deprived watching live action at the ISL matches due to the pandemic. Earlier football fans used to flock to the stadium whenever FC Goa played a home match. Since FC Goa does not feature in the finals, as they could not make it to the play-off stages, there is every possibility that the stadium may not be filled to capacity even if 100% capacity is allowed by the expert committee. The positivity rate of COVID-19 is less than one per cent and there have been no deaths reported in the past several days. This fact needs to be taken into account.
