This is with reference to the report, "Burnt trees, destroyed sand dune greet Cavelossim locals at Mobor - The Goan Everyday, December 31, 2022." Shocking scenario, indeed! Chopped & burnt trees and destroyed sand dune & vegetation, one can imagine the horrible sight the villagers of Cavelossim must have faced at Mobor, on the eve of the New Year. According to the news report, the areas fall under the No Development zone, as such, an eco sensitive zone. This is indeed a murderous act, similar to the cutting down of over 2,000 trees in the the wooded forest called Aarey, in the dead of night in Mumbai. Where are we heading, if not towards environmental disaster? The authorities or whoever concerned, just do not seem to understand rather don't want to understand the damage they are doing to the environment by their mindless actions. It's time we stopped playing with Nature as I have often stated, when Nature strikes back human life will be destroyed. So we want to begin the New Year with the threat of disaster looming over our heads?
