Although the electricity department has prescribed the on-off timings pertaining to streetlights, the said timings are often flouted. Under such circumstances, we notice streetlights at some locations functioning even during broad daylight. Hence a sizeable quantity of precious power supply gets wasted. As on Saturday, February 19, lamps along the Dhawali bypass in the vicinity of Shree Bhagwati Temple at Dhawali, Ponda were found functional at 8:40 am. Senior officials at the electricity department in Ponda should take serious note of above matter and instruct the concerned maintenance officials to perform their duties efficiently. Those found overlooking the prescribed on-off timings should be dealt with firm hand. Of course, available power supply must be preserved at all costs.
