This is with reference to the news report “Will Lobo call the shots if Congress wins seats in Bardez?” (The Goan Everyday, February 20). Those who closely followed the recent Assembly Elections know that Michael Lobo was a candidate to reckon with. He ran a high voltage and well-co-ordinated election campaign hogging the limelight and dominating the airwaves. From his tweets in the days leading up to election day to his cycle rally “ when electioneering was at its peak in our state - to protest against the rising prices of fuel. His regular visits to the churches and temples to seek blessings of Gods. His pictures with senior citizens and his mother. His ever smiling face. His potshots at rival candidates. His dignified silence when the incumbent CM Pramod Sawant said that for BJP it is nation first, but for Michael Lobo it is wife first, and that is why he left our party. Lobo Bab knew what he was doing. He came across as a leader on top of his game. All these things lead to only one conclusion. Come March 10, Lobo will emerge as a strong contender for the post of Goa’s chief minister. He is playing a high stake game. Ab ki baar Lobo sarkar?
