A few days back there was a news in Goan media on the drowning deaths at the waterfalls. Following those deaths, the government banned entry to the waterfalls shutting out all the waterfall enthusiasts and trekkers. When some deaths occur, the Government sheds crocodile tears but does not act to bring solution to the drownings.
The Government has issued guidelines and dos and don'ts and deployed life guards, forest guards to ensure safety of the visitors. The government can ban entry to the waterfalls why not ban alcohol entering the waterfalls.
The government should invest in these development to stop drowning deaths. Should fence all the small ways leading to the waterfalls with barbed wires and should keep two main gates for entry and exit. At entry gate, they should keep armed guard and competent security to check visitor's body and belongings for alcohol which should be confiscated. Also a huge notice board to be put up notifying 3 days a week for waterfalls enthusiasts and 3 days for trekkers. With this system in place there will be only 1% chance for accidental death.
