The voice of civil society is the voice of democracy. The present regime is in nexus with the corrupt, crony capitalists and has no qualms in trampling upon the human rights. It is time to awake resist strongly and act unitedly to ensure the rights and freedom enshrined in the Constitution. Look at what is happening in Camurlim (Bardez). The locals are battling to save their beautiful village from mega housing project which will destroy the ecology and biodiversity. The builder has acquired an area of 56,466 square metres taking permission fraudulently. There is a nexus between the builder, panchayat and Town & Country Planning department. Instead of roaring at what is happening in Camurlim, TCP and Forests Minister Vishwajit Rane is roaring to challenge the order in the Supreme Court on the tiger reserve. The High Court order was a tight slap to the government particularly the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Rane, who gave a thumbs down to the proposal of a tiger reserve in the state. We must congratulate Goa Foundation and the activists.
