The news report 'Road repair pledge falls flat , PWD out of funds' (TGE, Dec 3) is a crying shame and betrayal of trust and assurances by the PWD on 2 occasions. The first, by PWD minister Digambar Kamat, after assuming charge as Minister, when it was assured that road repair work would be completed within 15 days despite the un-seasonal rains , and the second , only recently when the minister assured that all repair work and hot mixing works would be completed in 15 days. And now to cut a sorry figure we are told that the PWD is out of funds. It is time that our ministers learn to abide by their promises and stop fooling the people given the gravity of the situation when road accidents are mounting and motoring is becoming increasingly difficult by the day.
