With having BJP on a full majority at the Centre and Goa, this was a great opportunity for the saffron party to do something really good for Goa like, Special Status, make the State the first to reach Carbon Neutral and an example to other States.
With such a small population, Goa could have been the cleanest State in India with beautiful parks and other natural tourist attractions, no tolerance to illegalities and corruption (as they had promised to do so in 2012 by arresting all tainted MLAs).
Did anything of this benefit Goa in the last two and half years that the BJP is in power?
Having a BJP government in Goa made it worse because they easily accepted all projects from the Centre without any opposition. MPT’s new setup, massive hill cutting for projects, filling up water bodies, double tracking and the Tamnar projects which are threatening wildlife sanctuaries were not in the interest of Goa.
With elections just a few days away, winds of change should start blowing in our State again to protect our land for posterity.
