The Central Budget presented this year is a mirage in the true sense of the word. It ignores the realities of today and a majority of the population that is the middle class.
It talks of the future 25 years when neither the presenter of the Budget “FM Nirmala Sitharaman nor her boss, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be holding office and can be held accountable.
Many of us will also not be present. It is inconvenient to talk about the present problems of the people since this government has no solutions for these and therefore it is necessary to sidestep them and talk of irrelevant things and 25 years hence when acche din would come.
Announcements like the Digital Rupee are part of the pieces of the kaleidoscope of the mirage since it will not be useful for a large part of the population and is like demonetisation where it was touted that black money would be eradicated but which continues to flourish, that corruption would end but we are seeing it increasing more and more.
Similarly, while promoting digital payments post-demonetisation it was said that cash use of Indians would go down, on the contrary it is today more than pre-demonetisation.
This government made a show about how sensitive and sympathetic they were in withdrawing the farm laws but is currently bickering on the finer details of arriving at MSP for the farmers.
This this is a jumla government and any measures or their economics are to be taken with a pinch of salt.
