Alarm bells have been sounded by health minister of an imminent massive Covid wave of infections that would be spreading across the state by September end and October.
Goa as we all know, is already in the grip of a rising wave of Covid infections and deaths, that have crossed the National average of number of infections and deaths per million.
Any further wave of infections will surely spell doom, if timely measures are not taken by the govt to contain the spread. We would not have been in the present predicament had the govt initiated timely action after our borders were open and entry checks at borders and the airport relaxed.
Putting the onus on people and passing the buck is not going to solve the problem. The govt has to step in now and put further curbs and restrictions which were earlier in place during the lockdown.
A second lockdown may even be considered and become necessary in view of the impending second wave.
