75 years ago India declared independence from the yoke of colonial stronghold. True independence Mahatma Gandhi said will be ushered in when we touch the lives of the poorest of the poor citizen. Now flying national flag gimmick may at best divert our pain of reeling under rising prices. India has proudly made tremendous progress in every field. The diet of slogans, building magnificent temples, pandering to religious emotions, dividing on basis of caste, religion, food, dress, prescribing new recipe of patriotism, interfering in private preferences of citizens is no formula for national integration. The basic necessities of citizens like universal education, health care, water, electricity, housing employment food and clothing are sign posts to be addressed. The principles enshrined in the constitution must not be diluted or modified to suit a particular ideology. The unity of nation with all its diversities alone is its strengths in the community of nations. On the 75th anniversary the flag on every dwelling should be a electric lamp and a tap of pure drinking water that alone shall embrace the 'tiranga' of shelter, light and water.
