The actions of some men in uniform have sullied the image of 'khaki' as yet another incident of police brutality was exposed by a worker from Kundaim IDC Narayan Rautray whereby two constables brutally assaulted and further demanded an extortion amount of Rs 5,000 which was paid by Google pay to one of the constables and then the complainant was released.
This is a tip of iceberg as there are many reported and unreported cases against the men in khaki but till date these have fallen on deaf ears and I have not seen any serious action taken against the culprits by the police department or the government.
I am also a victim and I also didn't get justice because of the investigation lapses by the police station officers on duty even reporting to the President and Prime Minister of India and all the top police officers. The reply that came from the concerned authorities and the police department that there is no concrete evidence and only some flaws noticed in the investigation and requested the police officer to give explanation. When no action is taken against the police it makes the men in khaki repeat such acts.
If the police have done something wrong they also should also be penalized with fine including the medical expenses of any injury should be borne by the men in khaki or even suspended and dismissed from service for repeated cases as they are the law enforcing agencies.
I humbly request the law enforcing agencies and top police officers and the government to take action against the erring men in khaki or else more public will be assaulted regularly and the public will blame the police department and the government for any law and order problem in Goa as there is an upward graph of cases of assault by men in khaki. The recent one was that of an advocate who was assaulted by two men in khaki.
