In a major setback to Goa, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that the BJP government at the Centre has resolved the controversial Kalasa-Bhandura water diversion project to benefit the farmers in North Karnataka region. However Goa should not lose all hope and needs to fight the matter legally, politically and technologically. However in the past probably not many Goans were aware of the importance of the Mhadei River. This could be so because of the lack of environmental education in the school curricula. The Mhadei Bachao Andolan (MBA) was formed in 1998 in order to educate all on nature and the importance of the Mhadei River for Goa. As Mhadei River is the lifeline of Goa, citizens of the state should be well versed about its significance, which only a well documented film can provide. A documentary by name 'Mhadei-Lifeline of Goa’, has been made in order to spread awareness of the consequences of diverting the water. The government must make it mandatory to screen this documentary at every cinema hall in the State before the start of the film.
