Foolhardiness of tourists to leave valuables in car

It was shocking to read that valuables and cash worth Rs 9 lakh were stolen from a rented car parked by tourists near the Panaji church. The incident occurred on the intervening night of December 7 and 8. The inventory of the goods is mind-blowing: two laptops worth Rs 5 lakh, two sunglasses worth Rs.70,000, hair dryers costing Rs 50,000, chappals worth Rs50,000 and other accessories and cash of Rs 2 lakh. The foolhardiness of the tourists to leave all this stuff in the car instead of carrying to their hotel room or keeping in a safe locker in the hotel, cost them heavily. It would be interesting to know the source and reasons from them for lugging around Rs 2 lakh in cash and the other costly items. If they could afford such an extravagant life style, they could have as well hired a trusted driver for their rented car. This would have helped to keep their valuables safe and secure. It's some relief that the criminals have been caught.
