Tribal event Lokotsav was praiseworthy

In 22 years, Lokotsav has become a festive brand for all societies of life in Canacona and in Goa, that we anxiously wait to celebrate annually. The 23rd edition showcased the diverse culture of tribal civilization through indigenous sports festival, various arts, bamboo crossing, commando bridge, river crossing by rope, archery, authentic local ancient cuisine, display of agricultural produce, handicrafts and herbal medicines. This year, Lokotsav 2023 audience were welcomed by colourful folklore artists from 6 states including the local Dhol and Tasha troupe entertaining the guests in bright orange attire. The amazing fact is, the entire show was stolen away by the talented students of Shree Balram Education Society, who were beautifully dressed in tribal costumes - the welcome song "Tumka auvkar.. auvkar..." so well written, composed and sung that the honoured guests - Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the VIP dignitaries were totally moved. Our Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar has taken a oath to make sure that the concept of developing, counselling and motivating the youth will get them trained in various skills and trades and see that all are employed in the near future.

Foolhardiness of tourists to leave valuables in car

It was shocking to read that valuables and cash worth Rs 9 lakh were stolen from a rented car parked by tourists near the Panaji church. The incident occurred on the intervening night of December 7 and 8. The inventory of the goods is mind-blowing: two laptops worth Rs 5 lakh, two sunglasses worth Rs.70,000, hair dryers costing Rs 50,000, chappals worth Rs50,000 and other accessories and cash of Rs 2 lakh.
