Future IFFIs could be held at proposed Film City

The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) which commenced on November 20 will go on till November 28. This will be the 20th edition of the film festival being held in Goa, when it was declared as a permanent venue way back in 2004. Hundreds of delegates will be coming to the state to attend the film festival. Large number of people will be attending the novenas of St Francis Xavier leading to the feast day on December 4. There is obviously a manifold increase in the number of vehicles on the roads which leads to traffic congestion. The exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier will be held at Old Goa in December 2024. There will be a tremendous increase in the number of visitors to the state from across the globe. Goa will reportedly have a Film City. Since the state is a permanent venue for IFFI, it would be in the fitness of things to shift the film festival to the proposed Film City. This will, to a great extent, reduce the load on the capital city.
