During the current pandemic many have lost their livelihoods and are looking for ways of self employment. Some government departments don't seem to be sympathetic and understand the plight of fellow Goans.
Several Goans who are looking into the home made food takeaway business have complained of unending bureaucratic hurdles and procedures to get FSSAI licence.
According to procedures, trade licence from panchayat or municipality and a no objection from the health officer is mandatory as part of getting the licence.
FSSAI officials should issue a license without waiting for the trade license from the panchayat/municipality which is a lengthy procedure.
For a small scale food business no health department letter should be asked as with the pandemic around one cannot get an inspection from the health dept by any means.
This should be waived off for the moment and as the business progresses eventually this could be asked if there is any complaint from locals on health issues.
We hope the government will look into the issue and streamline the procedure to get a FSSAI license for those who want to be self-employed.
