The world celebrates Women's Day on March 8 every year. The day is celebrated as attention towards women's rights and bringing attention to issues such as equality, violence, abuse against women.
It is commemorated in different ways across the world. In some countries it's a public holiday while in others it is observed socially or locally to celebrate achievements of women.
After years of struggle, today we can see women empowerment in every field. In sports, science and technology and politics, women have played vital role right from P T Usha, Vijaylaxmi Pandit, Annie Beasant, Madam Curie, Florence Nightingale, Indira Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher and Lady Diana.
Women's role in politics is vital across the globe and in India too we saw how late J Jaylalita ruled the party in Chennai. We also have key leaders like Mamta Banerjee in Bengal, Mayawati in UP and the present president of India Droupadi Murmu.
Women’s Day celebration can be successful only if they are given more opportunities in different fields and a free hand to function.
