This is with reference to the report, "Welcome to Margao's spick and span wholesale fish market - The Goan Everyday May 3, 2023." What a transformation, from a filthy, unhygienic, stinking eyesore to a pleasant environment! According to the report, the Margao wholesale fish market now bears a nice look. So, all thanks to the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting of foreign ministers in Goa? Great! Not long ago, parts of Mumbai were also spruced up for the G20 summit in the city. The slum posts in the city were covered, sidewalks were beautifully painted, lamp posts were decoratively lit up and all rubble was straightened up. Flex banners announcing the G20 summit, were placed at strategic locations. One wonders, do we necessarily need to have such meetings more often so that our cities would look good, presentable and habitable? Why does it have to be that way? It is said, where there is a will, there is a way. I would say, where there's a will there is a highway!
