Goa govt’s statue hypocrisy

It is believed by many people that the Legendary Lord Parshuram, the avatar of Lord Vishnu, is created the land of Goa by shooting an arrow from Sahyadri mountains into the Arabian Sea. And as in I understand based on the latter, the Goa government stated the intent and put up a statue in his honor.

The irony is that a wide view from the statue, one can easily observe environmental destruction, horrific hill cutting for luxury real estate, loss of natural cover/wild life, casino boats with with all their filth released into the waters. Needless to mention one can travel a bit further and see the rapid destruction of fields, coastal areas (sand dunes), mangroves, massive land conversions for wealth companies/individuals from outside Goa, coal hubs/corridors polluting cities and pristine green villages, sewage flowing into creeks/fields/roads/houses, huge garbage dump etc. all because of very poor governance, political priorities and high-level of corruption.

So was the statue set up as reminder of how beautiful Goa was created and need to preserve the state for posterity. Or just another commercial/business decision to attract even more tourists, crony capitalists, land sharks, and destructive Indian real estate companies.
