Driving fast has become fashionable and an obsession, specially with youngsters. Everybody wants to reach a destination on time. But how to get there and what speed matters. Speed limits are displayed on every road and must be adhered to. One has to excercise self control and be attentive for incoming traffic, to decrease speed at the threshold limits for safe driving by not endangering lives. With rapid poliferation of new and bigger cars there is always the temptations for speeding and more often than not ending in disastrous accidents.
Speedometers should be installed on every motorable road to check for speed. Eye Test for an individual with impaired vision must be compulsorily mandated. There should not be alcohol inebriated individuals driving in cars or other types seen awkwardly manouering on roads at high speeds. Driving licences of such should be confiscated. Underage children must be checked and banned or their cars impounded with hefty fines. All these remedies will go a long way in providing a safer and not accident prone Goa.
