Conditions favourable for active monsoon: IMD

While dry weather conditions prevailed in the State on Wednesday, there is good news in days to come with India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall at a few places on June 24 and 25.

“Conditions are becoming favorable for active monsoon circulation leading to increased rainfall activity over the Goa region in the coming days,” the IMD said.

The IMD weather bulletin also said moderate rain/thundershowers were very likely at most places from June 22 to 25.

Meanwhile, out of the 13 rain gauge stations in the State only Panaji received “trace” of rain while the remaining stations received “nil” rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The average cumulative rainfall in the State from June 1 to 21 was 174.8 mm as against normal average of 607.6 mm indicating a deficit of 71.2 mm rainfall.

In the meanwhile, Panaji recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degree Celsius even as humidity stood at 80 percent.
