The State government has notified the blue cab prepaid taxi service at the Manohar International Airport, Mopa as the draft rules were considered following public views. As per the notification signed by Transport Director Rajan Satardekar on Wednesday, the Motor Vehicle Rules will be further called the Goa Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
“...Motor cabs attached to Blue cab Prepaid Taxi Service at Manohar International Airport at Mopa shall be painted in blue colour, as specified by the Regional Transport Authority and rest of the body in white colour,” it said.
The government, in May, issued a draft notification to amend the Goa Motor Vehicles Act paving the way to set up the counter at the new international airport. The notification sought objections or suggestions to its draft rules which were forwarded to the Director of Transport in 15 days.
“Consent from GMR Goa International Airport Ltd, for providing parking slots/ pickup bays at Manohar International Airport at Mopa shall be sufficient for issuance of permits by the Regional Transport Authority,” the draft notification stated.
Locals and taxi operators from Pernem had led agitations since the airport went operational in December last seeking that the government set up the promised exclusive blue cab taxi counter for them.
