The Directorate of Industrial, Trade, and Commerce has announced simplification of the process for obtaining regulatory clearances necessary for construction-related works in industries, a move that will encourage the setting up of more industries which would increase job opportunities.
During a state event held on Wednesday, Director of Industries Swetika Sachin stated that over the next five-six months, a procedure for acquiring regulatory clearances in the construction industry will be streamlined and simplified.
“This will require necessary interventions and legal reforms aimed at enhancing user-friendliness and eliminating delays,” she added.
The IAS officer also emphasized the importance of re-engineering procedures within organizations to improve the ease of doing business.
“The initiatives undertaken by Goa-IDC will significantly contribute to enhancing the overall experience. It is crucial to prioritize the implementation of these reforms to ensure the involvement and satisfaction of stakeholders and beneficiaries, as their perception and experience of ease of doing business are vital. While there exist legal reforms and acts, their impact will not be fully realized unless they are effectively implemented. Hence, it is essential to prioritize the implementation of these reforms to truly reap their benefits,” she said while addressing 700 engineers and architects at a workshop titled ‘Building Plan Workshop: Deconstructing Construction Plans’.
Managing Director of Goa-IDC Pravimal Abhishek revealed that with the streamlining of the construction licenses, the approval rate has increased by 124 percent in the first half of this year compared to the preceding six months (August-December 2022) for industrial constructions.
Abhishek further explained that the workshop aimed to familiarize architects and engineers with the intricacies of building plan regulations to facilitate faster clearances.
“The ultimate goal is to transition to an online construction licensing system within the next four-five months, thus enhancing the ease of doing business,” Abhishek said.
