The POGO bill has not been tabled as the CM says its unconstitutional. It was meant to benefit People Of Goan Origin (POGO). The trouble with it is that there are hundreds of Goans who have migrated abroad. Why should they get special benefit over Indian citizens ? If someone has gone abroad on a work visa it is a different issue altogether. It is Goans living, working and voting here who should get the benefits. The BJPs Sons Of Soil bill (SOS) is in fact a better bill. It seeks to provide benefit to Goans who have resided in Goa for the last 30 years or more. The SOS bill will definitely serve as a topping to help Goans move forward.
