The State is holding a two-day bird festival but the Goan skies are full of cacophonous political birds migrating from one party to another.
Some candidates join party A for breakfast, switch to party B for lunch and by dinner time are comfortably ensconced in party C's nest.
Yesterday a heavyweight of the ruling dispensation bid adieu to the cabinet and quickly chose to roost with a Delhi centric opposition party; to save face the party president in a hurriedly convened presser grandly announced that the bird was pushed out of the nest for anti-party activities and that a disqualification petition shall be moved against her.
Of course all the migrating birds switching parties at the speed of light make sanctimonious noises about how they wish to serve the people better and talk about upholding the national interest; the only ones these opportunists are serving and whose interests they are being taken care of are their own, aam janta be damned.
Politics in Goa is an absolute bedlam now with voters unable to make an informed choice before casting their ballots. The citizenry should be especially wary of such fly by night contenders and vote for individuals rather than parties, for candidates whose hearts actually beat for Goa.
