The tragic truck accident which took away an innocent child's life of a worker who was working for the contractor of the road hot mixing in Sodiem, Siolim is deplorable and the contractor and PWD has to be booked for negligence. The Department of Women and Child needs to step in and see that every child of the workers, especially the migrant labourers are provided with the creche facility at the work site. For this the contractor and the department which engages the service of such casual labourers who move with their little children should be first accommodated with the day child care centres in anganwadis, etc. The village child committee, the respective panchayats and Women and Child department need to sit and discuss and come out with a a proper safe child care centre envisaged in labour construction workers schemes. These sort of tragic incidents should open the eyes of our government to act for the welfare of migrant labour.
