Govt should act to save State's natural resources

The State government on Wednesday has suspended Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik with immediate effect citing likely disciplinary proceedings against him. It should be noted that several protests by citizens and activists were witnessed in the last couple of months in the state demanding removal of Naik, accusing him of being instrumental in the rampant conversion of Goa's green zones. Naik, who was granted service extension by the State government, in August last year, has been facing charges of deviation from his primary responsibility of town planning and failing to prioritise the preservation of the State's natural resources. Well, the whole world knows that the said Naik was doing all this at the behest of a minister from the ruling government and destroying the State's natural areas/resources for the greed of money since the last so many months in Goa. I think that the government should take appropriate action and desist from making Naik a scapegoat to fool all the gullible Goans and show that it is really interested in preserving the State's natural areas/resources for the future generations in Goa.
