Close on the heels of the Centre’s approval to the karnataka govt’s (Detailed Project report (DPR) on the ‘kalasa-Banduri’ diversion of the Mhadei river, comes another blow to the people of Goa with the Centre’s clearance for enhancement of the terminal capacity of berths 5A and 6A at Mormugao port for the handling of coal, iron ore etc.
All the opposition and stiff resistance put up by the people of Goa over the years seems to have gone in vain, along with the false promises and assurances by the Goa government that there is nothing to fear all is well, and will be taken care of. The matter is very serious, because in a few years from now, Goa will not have water in their rivers and only toxic air to breathe. Yet our politicians are more concerned about getting clearance from the Centre for loud decibel music after 10 pm when all other states are abiding by the supreme court rules of the 10 pm deadline.
