The decision taken by Goa Police to check the identity card of the devotees during St Francis Xavier novenas and feast day due to security purposes has raised many questions among the people of Goa and tourist from India and abroad who will be visiting old Goa to seek the blessings of our Goencho saib. Are the police force capable of handling the thousands of devotees/tourists by checking their bags and ID cards ? Will it not take time for police force to check the identity card and write the record details on their books? And in case the people who come from all around Goa, India and international tourists forget their ID cards than will they be stopped from taking blessings of St Francis Xavier after coming from such far distances ? The police should check the bags at security point through detectors while entering the historical church. This announcement should be made well in advance so that the church authority, foreign tourists know about the decision taken by Goa police department to check ID cards. Please take care of your wallet and smart mobile phones in the crowded place.
