Two hundred and fifty bikers booked for helmet-less rides - The Goan Everyday - October 19, 2024. The proposal by the Traffic Department with regard to helmet-less riding needs to be considered. What bikers don’t understand, or rather don’t want to understand, is that wearing a helmet is in their own interest, even for short distances.
And not just wearing a helmet, but wearing it correctly so that it is fastened properly; otherwise, the purpose of wearing the helmet is lost. They need to know that somebody is waiting for them at home.
I leave no opportunity to pull up helmet-less riders. A couple of months ago, when I stopped a helmet-less rider, she gestured that it was an electric vehicle, and therefore no helmet is required. And I thought to myself, are electric two-wheelers exempt from accidents?
