It's silly how Goa govt tries to shield shady souls

The Silly Souls imbroglio has rightly generated a lot of interest amongst the public, more particularly amongst our Goans across the globe. In the first week of June this year I got many calls from residents of Assagao that they were being disturbed with very loud music being regularly played at Silly Souls Cafe & Bar till the early hours of the morning. There was also a deep concern whether banned drugs were made available at this high profile party joint. What triggered my concern was that despite telephonically made complaints every night the authorities failed to act on even a single occasion.  So that RTI application immediately followed and the rest is now history. It is now beyond any doubt that the family of Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani was running that joint.

Of the various issues I raised in the last many years, this one was tough, possibly because the offender was a Union Minister with the BJP at the helm of affairs at the Centre and in Goa going out of the way to shield those shady souls. But it was patience that has helped to get to the bottom of this rot.
