People go to court for justice. Firstly justice delayed is justice denied, and then we have the High Court in Uttarakhand giving one week's notice to people living on encroached railway land for over 40 years in concrete buildings to vacate before demolition. The Supreme Court has rightly stayed the order stating thousands of people including old, women and children cannot be summarily displaced without a rehabilitation package and sufficient time. The questions arise as to why the authorities permitted the encroachment in the first place, allowed it to exist and now who will be held responsible for the uprooting and displacement of so many lives. Unless some stringent punishment is meted out by the courts to the concerned authorities, in a democracy where people should come first, its seems like justice and humanity have vanished.
